The Orioles have signed 26-year old lefty swinging catcher Zane Chavez to a minor league deal.  He played in 70 games in Independent ball last year and he was 83 of 245 (.339 avg, .871 OPS) with 39 runs scored, 4 homers, 51 RBIs and 1 stolen base.  He has now played in 211 games in his first four years in the minors and he is 192 of 675 (.284 avg, .730 OPS) with 85 runs scored, 9 homers, 104 RBIs and 4 stolen bases.  Chavez will start the 2013 season somewhere in the minors for the Orioles.
