The Orioles have high hopes for 20-year old righty swinging 3B Manny Machado.  Machado played in 51 games in his first taste of the majors last year for the O’s and he was 50 for 191 (.262 avg, .739 OPS) with 24 runs scored, 7 homers, 26 RBIs and 2 stolen bases.  He played in 51 games (all starts) at 3B last year for the Orioles and he had 5 errors while showing good range.  Machado also played in 109 games in AA-ball last year and he was 107 of 402 (.266 avg, .789 OPS) with 60 runs scored, 11 homers, 59 RBIs and 13 stolen bases.  Machado has a huge upside for the Orioles.  28-year old righty swinging Danny Valencia will try to win a backup job for the Orioles this spring.  He played in 44 games for the Red Sox and Twins last year in which he was 29 of 154 (.188 avg, .497 OPS) with 14 runs scored, 3 homers and 21 RBIs.  He played in 44 games (40 starts) at 3B last year and he had 4 errors there while showing outstanding range.  Valencia has now played in 283 games in his first three years in the majors and he is 261 of 1,017 (.257 avg, .686 OPS) with 107 runs scored, 25 homers, 133 RBIs and 4 stolen bases.  26-year old lefty swinging Ryan Flaherty could also play some 3B for the Orioles, if need be.  He played in 17 games (7 starts) at 3B for the Orioles last year and he had 1 error while showing pretty horrible range there.
