The over/under for Baltimore Orioles’ wins in 2013 is 76.5

The Orioles are getting no respect in betting circles as the over/under for wins for them is only 76.5.  The Orioles were 93-69 (57.4%) last year.  The Orioles might not have done much to improve the roster over the winter, but they are a team on the rise.  Brian Roberts, Nick Markakis, Manny Machado, Chris Tillman and Miguel Gonzalez will be with them from Day #1 in 2013.  I wouldn’t say to bet the house on the over, maybe just the car.

Buck Showalter has the Baltimore Orioles moving in the right direction

56-year old manager Buck Showalter has the Orioles moving in the right direction.  He led them to a 93-69 (57.4%) record during the regular season and they were also 3-3 (50%) in the playoffs last year, despite boasting a pretty young roster.  Showalter is now 196-185 (51.4%) in his first three years as the Orioles’ manager during the regular season.  He is now 1,078-1,018 (51.4%) in his first 14 years during the regular season as a major league manager and he is also 6-9 (40%) in the playoffs.  Showalter has the reputation of being a manager that can get teams close, but not over the hump.  The Orioles hope that Showalter can buck that trend in 2013.
